Group Counseling

Group therapy is an especially useful approach for addressing many issues commonly experienced by college students. For some, it may be the most beneficial format for personal growth. For others, it may be one component of a comprehensive treatment plan.

When you are seen by a Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) intake counselor at SHAC you may be referred to a therapy group as the recommended approach to your treatment. You may also be referred to a group as part of an ongoing individual treatment, or as a continuation of treatment when you have completed therapeutic work with an individual counselor.

If you have questions about group treatment at CAPS, please schedule an intake appointment or stop by to talk with an On-Call counselor. On-Call counselors are available from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Fridays during the regular academic term.
